phew.....what a week, one of the most memorable musical experiences of my life...it was such a joy to play music with Lisa, Sebastian, Phil, Ed, Johnny, Tim, Eddie, Liam, Matt, Joe Paul and Chris ... aside from the music, they are all such wonderful, open and generous people... it felt like a very special thing unfolded through the week ... We became a band in a very short period of time, a band with character and heart and then had the good sense to break up before it all turned to shit... we take away nothing but good memories and a stronger desire to play music for the sheer joy of it.
thank you to all of the weeks audiences.. there was some intense moments between us, some beautiful singing, some memorable heckling, you willed us on to some great heights.. I hear that the webcast was difficult for some of you to tune into.. its still a young technology and there will be trainwrecks but we are trying... hopefully most of you got to see and hear something of Friday nights show... I'm having a permanent setup installed in my studio so that by midyear I can do webcasts at the drop of a hat...watch this space [Wednesday, March 21, 2001]
its a glorious day in Auckland .....Sebastian Steinberg arrived this morning and was promptly given the full search by customs, unfortunately this seems to be the popular N.Z. way of greeting overseas musicians... he is the first arrival of the fine line up of guest musicians converging in Auckland for this 5 night season... it started as a whimsical notion but now its a happening ... I am very excited to discover what we sound like, rehearsals next week... life is rich and colourful to say the least.
I have realised that we can't keep up with all the news... things are just too frantic so we'll be attempting to link you to some reliable and up to date place... of course Peter Green is always in the know Well I'm sure I'll see some of you at the St James in April and some others in the U.K. or Ireland after that ...then its Australia in June (announced soon) and don't think I've forgotten the U.S....there will be shows , the album will be available....and what about Iceland, Venezuala etc...well I would love to and I'm exploring these options ) leisure [Sunday, March 11, 2001]
thanks for all the responses to our request for help...we are sorting through them all and will be getting in touch soon....
In the meantime how about this idea...I would like to invite those of you who are able, to make a Flash video, for the song Wherever You Are out soon as a single in the U.K...... the best video maker will receive tickets to a show of their choice as well as a package made up of the new album, t shirt etc.... the videos will be featured on the site and some may even be exposed within the live show .The only catch is the deadline...you must have a completed video ready to send downline by Friday the 23rd of March. Rakai will give you the other details following this note but let me just say that the impetus for this idea has been the realisation in this last few months that you people are potential collaborators and notion... I know not many of you will have the Flash capability but to make it easier Rakai will post a template for the song ...so over to Rakai. I have made a little page and you can find it here |
